“If I had to use one word to describe [her show], I couldn’t, but magnificent is a good start.”

Having sold out five shows in three cities on her last visit to Australia, two-time Grammy nominated Imogen Heap returns to our shores in April to bring us her unique brand of flamboyant, genre-agnostic semi-pop.
The charming chanteuse, known for her work as one half of the musical duo Frou Frou, is welcomed back with open arms, after her last series of shows demonstrated her flawless musicianship and an admirably intricate stage set up.
Heap’s imaginative works are known for being intensely personal and are uniquely translated onstage with custom-made equipment, visual projections, a perspex grand piano and her trademark ethereal vocals.
Something of a child prodigy, the classically trained Brit began writing her own songs before she had entered high school. Vehemently independent and enormously ambitious, Heap taught herself sequencing, music engineering, sampling and production, which enabled her to effortlessly “straddle the divide between gloss and glitch”. Her DIY aesthetic has also enabled the overachieving songstress to self-produce and mix all three of her releases, with her most recent record, ‘Ellipse’ earning her a Grammy for Best Engineered Album.
Her music has featured heavily on various hit US television shows including the O.C and CSI, and was included on the soundtrack to the beautifully executed coming-of-age feature film, Garden State.
A prolific Twitter user, Heap has close to 1.5 million followers. There is little doubt that after winning the hearts of thousands of Australians during her impending tour, that number is sure to skyrocket.
